These terms outline how your booking with FirstHand Travel works. We’ve kept them clear and straightforward, but if you have any questions, just ask.

  • Your booking is with travel suppliers, not directly with us
  • Prices and availability can change until confirmed
  • Cancellation fees may apply
  • Travel insurance is strongly recommended
  • You are responsible for travel documents and requirements

1. Introduction

These Booking Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all bookings made with FirstHand Travel (“we”, “us”, “our”). By making a booking with us, you (“the client”) agree to be bound by these Terms.

We act primarily as a travel agent, arranging travel services on your behalf with third-party suppliers (“Suppliers”). In some cases, we may package services; however, individual components remain subject to Supplier terms and conditions.

2. Booking Confirmation

  • all required traveller details have been provided
  • any required deposit or full payment has been received

Bookings are subject to acceptance and confirmation by the relevant Supplier.

3. Pricing

  • subject to availability at the time of booking
  • subject to change prior to confirmation
  • quoted in Australian Dollars (unless otherwise stated)

Prices may change due to factors outside our control, including currency fluctuations, fuel surcharges, taxes, or Supplier changes.

5. Supplier Conditions

All bookings are subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant Suppliers.

  • cancellation and amendment fees
  • refund restrictions
  • baggage allowances
  • operational requirements

6. Changes & Amendments

Changes are subject to Supplier approval and may incur fees, fare differences, and service fees.

7. Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellation fees may apply up to 100% of the booking value.

Deposits and FirstHand Travel service fees are generally non-refundable.

8. Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellations, medical expenses, delays, and loss of luggage.

9. Travel Documents & Visas

You are responsible for passports, visas, and required documentation.

We may assist with guidance, but we are not responsible for denied entry or incorrect documentation.

10. Health & Entry Requirements

You are responsible for meeting health and entry requirements for your destination.

11. Travel Advice

We recommend referring to official government sources such as Smartraveller for current travel advice.

12. Your Responsibilities

  • ensure all traveller details match passports
  • check all documents upon receipt
  • advise any special requirements
  • comply with Supplier requirements

13. Agency & Liability

We act as an agent for Suppliers and do not control their services.

Your contract is with the relevant Supplier, and claims relating to services should be directed to them.

Nothing in these Terms excludes your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

14. Force Majeure

We are not liable for events beyond our control, including natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, or disruptions.

15. Fees & Commissions

We may receive commissions from Suppliers and charge service fees as disclosed. Our Fee Schedule is available separately.

16. Privacy

Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia.

18. Acceptance

By making a booking, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms on behalf of all travellers in your booking.
